Industry Spotlight- Zoë Felice – Costumier

This month we are shining the Industry Spotlight on the very talented costumier, Zoë Felice. If you have seen a burlesque show in Melbourne, chances are you have seen some of her extraordinary work, including the divine stage kitty costumes for ABF 2012, which you can see in the gallery below, modelled by our delightful stage manager, Poppy Cherry. Designing and making her first costume for a Barbie doll at 6, Zoë developed a passion for costume and was at home on a sewing machine by the age of 11. She went on to study textiles and won a school society’s popular choice award for her final work in Year 12.

After finishing high school, Zoë lived in London for a year where she worked as a dresser on “The Producers” at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. On her return to Melbourne Zoë worked as Standby on Alexandra Schepisi’s short film “One Night” and as Costume Decorator for June Designs, the official costume provider for Channel 7’s “Dancing with the Stars”. Knowing how much she loved working with colours, crystals, feathers and fabrics, Zoë decided to further her knowledge by studying Costume at NIDA.

Since starting at NIDA, Zoë has refined her skills in costume making, focusing on corsetry and women’s cutting. She also intends to build her experience as a costume supervisor for theatre, film and television and in the future would love to work on acclaimed feature films both in Australia and internationally.

She loves her coffees at Batch, books in bed, her sewing room, her ridiculously patient boyfriend Joe and her crazy, cuddly cat Sundae.

Zoë has a special giveaway for all of our lovely burlesque lovers out there! To win a pair of Zoë Felice pasties, simply visit and ‘like’ her Facebook page, and leave a comment on her page telling her why you should win! We will then pick our favourite comment, so get creative!
