Venus Vamp: Sydney

Venus Vamp is Sydney’s Femme Fatale of Burlesque. A showgirl priestess who concocts spellbinding shows of vintage decadence and carnivalesque delights.

She has danced all over Australia since 2006, with career highlights including Australian Burlesque Festival, Perth Burlesque Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Sydney and Melbourne Fringe, Art and About Launch and Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. On top of that she has produced popular Weimar Berlin inspired show ‘Anything Goes Cabaret’ which toured Australia, annual Halloween burlesque screamfests ‘Night of the Stripping Dead’ and currently the High Priestess behind the Occult Life Drawing sessions, ‘Drawing Blood’.

Her likeness also appears in a portrait painted by previous Archibald winner Wendy Sharpe, as a finalist for the 2013 Archibald Prize.

On the side Venus has appeared as an extra in films and tv programs including The Matrix 2, Cops LAC, and various music film clips, and also moonlights as a model for alternative fashion events. She has recently sat for painter Wendy Sharpe, appearing in various painted forms in the exhibition titled ‘Burlesque’ shown in 2012.

With an vast array of acts and themes up her chiffon sleeves, Venus specialises on the darker sider of life. Experience what this burlesque dancer has created but be warned – this Vamp has bite!
