The Austalian Burlesque Festival 2011

After a sold-out first year The Australian Burlesque Festival will be back in 2011 with more shows, more cities and more tease! In 2010 audiences were swept away in a whirlwind of feathers, glitz and glamour heralding the 1st Annual Australian Burlesque Festival a roaring success and a firm fixture on the Australian entertainment calendar.
In 2011 The Australian Burlesque Festival will showcase the very best of Australian burlesque talent as well as some delectable international guests to thrill and delight fans in Melbourne, Sydney and this year Canberra and Hobart as well!

The bursting popularity of the burlesque revival is in full swing around the world and Australia is at the forefront with its unique flavour of theatrical and colourful burlesque acts. With outrageously talented artists shining on the international stage the 2011 Australian Burlesque Festival will bring together the best of the best! Burlesque aficionados and first timers alike will delight in the biggest celebration of tease Australia has ever seen. There will be good old fashioned bump’n’grind, bawdy variety, classic glamour and exotic tease, and thats just the beginning. The festival comes jam packed with activities for all, a community based experience where people can learn the tricks of the trade from the best performers in the business then see it all put to work on stage during the shows.

Applications are closing at midnight on the 5th of March for Australian and International performers wanting to participate.

Dolores Daiquiri

Dolores Daiquiri has been at the forefront of the Burlesque Revival for ten years and has produced and starred in a vast array of successful shows in Australia which encompasses corporate events, private showcases and media launches. Starting her career as a founding member of Australia’s longest serving burlesque troupe and now as a soloist Dolores continues to captivate her audiences with classic, sassy tease and glamorous stage performances. She is the ultimate consummate performer and a mainstay within the burlesque community who not only performs stunning shows but produces high-end burlesque events such as Red Door Burlesque, Shimmy Shake and The Australian Burlesque Festival, headliner act in Paris Event and masterclass Teacher!


Rosy Rabbit

Australia’s darling of burlesque, Rosy Rabbit, has been teasing audiences across the country since 2006, when she leapt on to the stage with a head full of dreams and taste for the sweet life!

With a background in classical ballet and musical theatre Rosy has found burlesque an unrivalled outlet for her creative passions including performance, costume design and event production. As co-founder and producer of the Australian Burlesque Festival Rosy is passionate about building and uniting the community and embracing the many facets of this timeless and ever-changing art of tease and sensuality.

A shining star in the burlesque revival Rosy has performed at many of Australia’s premier burlesque and subculture events, music festivals and regular showcases. She also toured North America and Canada in 2009 and was selected to perform at the 2010 London Burlesque Week.
